Venice is a place of real beauty and life. People there live to party and share their love with the rest of the community. The Plaza Hotel is one of the venues that has been at the center of this life for many a year. And one of the highlights of the social calendar has been the Save Venice ball, hosted in that marvelous hotel. It is a gala that raises valuable funds for charity.
Vanity Fair reported, “More than 450 guests were in attendance for the evening that raised $1.2 million—about $200,000 more than last year. Sponsored by Moda Operandi, Oscar de La Renta, and Bulgari, the event was a night in which the importance of decorative arts and preservation are top of mind.
"Most charities are about saving something or curing something, but there are those, particularly in the fashion world, who also really care about beauty and want to preserve it," said Save Venice co-chair and board member Lauren Santo Domingo.”
Italians love to let go and have a great time. Raising money for charity has never been so much fun! The money raised is to help preserve the architecture of this beautiful city. With the recent tragedy at Notre Dame in Paris, looking after our buildings has never been so relevant. Party like an Italian – and look after the world we live in at the same time!
